A Dose of Depp

When I grow up, I want to look like Johnny Depp! The hotter then EVER 48yr old actor graces the cover of Vanity Fair’s November issue. There has been much hoopla regarding Depp’s remarks comparing being photographed to being raped. Bonnie Fuller via her website Hollywoodlife.com, went on a total rampage. Bonnie settle down! I don’t know why people can’t just speak their minds. Maybe he feels violated, it’s his own issue. He has since apologized for the remarks but in no way was he trying to compare himself to real rape victims. Give me a f’ing break! In other Depp news, Johnny will star in comedy “The Rum Diary” playing an alcoholic journalist working for a paper in Puerto Rico while taking LSD. Fun! The film also stars Amber Heard, Aaron Eckhart, Giovanni Ribisi and Richard Jenkins, and hits theaters October 28th.

RU Over O?

Let’s not get it twisted, I love Oprah. She is the ultimate inspiration BUT can anyone tell me what is going on at OWN? Ever since the Queen of daytime talk went off the air in May and launched her own network it seems as if she has lost her mojo. The network has failed to gain an audience and it’s docu-reality programs are a total bore. I TRIED watching The O’Neals, Finding Sarah and Why Not? with Shania Twain but after a few episodes lost interest. The upcoming Rosie Show which premieres this month doesn’t lead to too much excitement either. While at the doctor’s office last week, I picked up a copy of O Magazine, it featured articles by the usual suspects Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz and Suze Orman…again boring! I don’t know about you but I’d prefer to hear some fresh voices. Oprah, here is a word of advice from Daymz….it’s time to promote the next generation! As for your cable network, I’d like to see more diversified programming and perhaps original films. According to Forbes, she still remains the Highest Earning Women in Hollywood with $290 million in earnings between May 2010 and May 2011. So Oprah, if you don’t want my advice, I’d gladly except a check!!

Camille’s Revenge

Last season on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, we witnessed Camille’s public divorce from actor Kelsey Grammer. Camille was not a fan favorite mainly because of her skewed sense of reality and her inability to connect with fellow cast members. Not only is Camille looking fresh faced BUT it appears she has a new attitude. Camille is in the process of finding herself and (HOPEFULLY) a new man! On last nights episode she revealed the divorce has made her a stronger person and she is ready to start dating! She ALSO is having fun at Kelsey’s expense…making the colorful remarks “big hands, big feet, big disappointment.”  Take that Kelsey! Not many women have the opportunity to embarrass their ex-husbands on national television. Good for her! #TeamCamille

#JusticeForMichael Day 5

Over the weekend Conrad Murray took time to kick back and get a spa pedicure. He might as well enjoy his last moments of freedom. The trail resumes today with testimony by ER Dr. Richelle Cooper and like paramedics went on record to say that Murray did not disclose Jackson was given the powerful drug propofol. She also says Jackson was DOA (dead on arrival). However, the amount of propofol in his system may not have been enough to sedate him. This is a score for the defense team who claim Jackson administered the lethal dose himself. Cooper also explained that regardless of the amount it should not have been administered outside of a hospital setting. Dr. Murray’s cell phone records were also being questioned shows that Murray was on the phone at the time of Jackson’s death with his girlfriend! He wasted available time which could have been used to call 911 and potentially save Jackson’s life.

Money Matters (Occupy Wall Street)

Americans are pissed off and are taking it to the streets! I wasn’t familiar with the Occupy Wall Street movement until this weekend when 700 protesters were arrested as they marched across the Brooklyn Bridge. Inspired by the pro-democratic Arab demonstrations, the #OWS message is simple. Our country is broken and operates in a system that serves the wealthiest 1% while the rest of us pay the price. The movement is growing fast and similar protest have popped up in California, Massachusetts, Washington, Rhode Island and New Mexico! Film maker Michael Moore and actress Susan Sarandon have also joined the cause by speaking out in defense of the protesters. Backers promise to make plenty of noise during the 2012 elections. I’m curious to see where all this is going. Could the riots that happened in Egypt happen right here in the US? You betcha. People are mad as hell and will only remain complacent for so long. True change will only come by action. I hope protest will remain peaceful but it is important to be heard and I encourage people to get involved…it’s time for a revolution!

Evangeline Lilly: Life After Lost

Evangeline Lilly best known for her role as Kate on the “J.J.” Abrams series Lost arrived yesterday in all white at the film premiere of Real Steel. Real Steel, a sci-fi action film about boxing robots co-starring Hugh Jackman arrives in theaters October 7th. Evangeline is also filming Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit due out next year. This is great news to me because Evangeline happens to be one of the nicest celebrities I’ve ever met. A few years ago, we bonded in Antigua at a photo shoot for a fragrance she was promoting. After a few days on set, it was time to leave the island and fly to Los Angeles via Puerto Rico, one problem, I hate to fly. What awaited on the runway was a sad excuse for a plane..I recall it had two propellers and looked like it was built in World War Two!! When we finally arrived in PR there was a delay so we chatted in the airport while waiting for our connection. We talked about career, relationships and my fear of flying. I thought it was strangely ironic how, I was in flight with someone who starred on a TV show about a plane crash and gets stuck on an island! Scary! I could only imagine the headline… “Lost star dies in plane crash”…and I probably would’nt have even gotten a mention! Little known fact, before becoming an actress Evangeline worked as a flight attendant! The flight from PR to LA was a bit bumpy to say the least….I was a mess. Traveling with her sister, Evangeline put her friendly sky skills to use and sent me a cocktail to clam my nerves. A really sweet gesture! Thanks, Evangeline!

Hung Up

3 years ago the economy wasn’t doing so well. News flash, it’s still a freaking mess and HBO has the solution; Hung is back with a BANG!  Season 3 of the hit series aired last night and it was LMAO. Ray Drecker and his pimp “T Brain” Tanya decided they are done struggling and are going full monty by opening a Happiness Wellness Center for Women, offering students classes in Orgasmic Solutions. Tanya teaches and Ray holds private consultations but first they must convince a bank officer to EXTEND a loan. Sounds like the American wet dream is still alive and well in Detroit, at least it is on TV. As they drive off in a brand new convertible it appears Ray and “T” finally have their business plan in tact…that is until rival Lenore finds out! Lenore might be offering stiff competition as she recruits for fresh talent to replace Ray….more to cum. Hung airs on HBO, Sunday nights at 10pm.

Deep Thoughts (Loving Ur Imperfect Self)

We often beat ourselves up and are our own worst critics but we must learn to embrace the things that make us who we are including the parts we wish to improve. There used to be a time when I was so skinny that people would accuse me of being on drugs or being sick. Truth be told, I was going through a depression couldn’t eat. I think part of me also liked the attention. On the other side of the scale, there have been times when I have been over weight. Also a result of depression and side effects of the pills I was on  to curb those feelings. About 6 years ago, I flushed all my meds down the toilet and said to myself “NO MORE!” I started working out more regularly and took responsibility for what was happening to me. I’ve gone up and down in size since but nothing too drastic. I’ve learned to adopt a more healthy and balance lifestyle. I’ve also never liked the shape of my nose or the wrinkles on my forehead…I thought about surgery but realized that these things make me who I am. Yes, I’ve had some Botox but I’m not going under the knife anytime soon. I’ve never been great in Math and (if you haven’t noticed) am a bit dyslexic but that hasn’t stopped me from learning how to balance a budget or write this blog. It’s ok to want to push ourselves to be the best or look “perfect” but it is far more important how we choose to live our lives and how we treat others. Beauty does come from within and at the end of the day people will remember us by our actions…love yourself and love others. That said, I am sending you all Love & Light this for the weekend…remember to smile and not be so hard on yourself…we are all a work in progress. Xo.

The Secret Circle

After the sudden death of her Mother in a house fire, 16yr old Cassie moves from California to New Salem to live with her grandmother. Cassie soon learns that things are a bit different in New Salem…what she discovers is a Secret Circle of witches rule her high school and she is the binding missing link. The witches must join forces to control their dangerous powers. What Cassie does not know is that her Mom’s death and relocation to New Salem is no coincidence. Many years ago their parents were also part of a similar circle and for some reason have vowed never to practice witch craft again. Not everyone abides to that promise and some even will kill to keep their power. The third episode of The Secret Circle airs tonight on the CW Network (9pm). Besides, ABC’s Revenge this one of my favorite new shows of the season!!

#JusticeForMichael Day 3

All eyes on Los Angeles as the third day of the Dr. Conrad Murray trial unfolds before a jury and the world. Today Alberto Alvarez (Director of Logistics)  took the stand and revealed the tragic scene in Michael Jackson’s bedroom as the star lay lifeless. As Paris Jackson looked on and called out “Daddy,” Alvarez assisted Dr. Murray in hiding evidence. He was instructed by Dr. Murray to place bottles of propofol the powerful drug now known to kill Michael Jackson into a brown paper bag. Dr. Murray tired to preform CRP and took his time telling Alvarez to phone 911. When he finally did, they were told to place Michael on the floor which any doctor should have known was protocol. Although, on cross examination Alvarez was painted as “confused” he came across as a creditable witness. Jackson’s chef Kai Chase also took the stand as she was also in the residence at the time of death. Having worked as a Celebrity Personal Assistant, I find it hard to believe that no one on staff questioned Dr. Murray’s role in Michael’s life. Maybe they couldn’t say anything and needed to turn a blind eye but in my opinion there lies a level of personal responsibility. Kai Chase seems like she just wanted to make Michael happy but something is not adding up. If I were on his team, I would have walked out and gone to the police the moment I suspected there was something cooking. I hope after this is over MJ can finally rest in peace. The man’s life and death; a public spectacle. So sad. Sister Latoya is taking the spectacle for what it is worth as she smiles and waves to supporters like she is on the red carpet…smh.

Baby Love

Could it be true? Are Demi and Ashton splitting up? Whatever is going on in their personal lives is not much of a concern for me but I would like to discuss what it is like to be in a May/December relationship. I tend to date down, call me a Cougar, I don’t care. I’ve made a vow never to date an 80’s baby again but there is something about their vitality and lust for life that is magnetic. The sex is great plus the attention is a total ego boost. However, after awhile you find that you really don’t have anything to talk about. That you have to dumb yourself down because they don’t understand certain cultural references. You start sounding like a parent or history teacher! You’re like “been there, done that” while your waiting for them to play catch up. Maybe age doesn’t matter but from now on I only want to connect with someone more of an equal. In order to attract a soulmate you really need to work on yourself…so that is what I am doing. I hope he is paying attention:)

Smoke Up!

Whether you smoke, drink, pop pills, do coke, drink too much coffee or are cruising for sex 24/7 on Grindr, we all have our addictions. Most of the time we are looking for quick and temporary fulfillment…will the short term escape lead to life long happiness? Probably not! The ultimate high can come from within but sometimes we crave a short cut. I make no admissions or judgements. I will say that I was happy to hear that the NYPD is instituting a new marijuana arrest policy. “Last week, New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly issued a memo that said individuals may not be arrested if the drug was disclosed to public view at an officer’s discretion.” Meaning, if you are for some reason stopped by police and searched they are encouraged not to arrest for low levels of possession. “The new policy was issued to save cost by not processing “criminals” through the system. Last year, there were over 50,000 marijuana charges resulting in cost up to $75 million!”  “Activists say that money can be better spent on other law enforcement issues.” I couldn’t agree more! Best news of the week! Think, I’m gonna have a cup of coffee and roll a joint to celebrate!! Just kidding!

Happy New Year!

It’s Rosh Hashanah and what does that mean exactly? RH is the start of the Jewish New Year, a time when we return to the purity of the first beginning. In spite of our negative actions, our true essence (the spark of the Creator’s Light) lies within us. During RH we connect to that energy and are reborn. It is an opportunity to say to ourselves “I cannot accept the place that I’m in, I can’t be comfortable with the person that I am. Once and for all, I reject my ego and the Desire to Receive for the Self Alone.” Typically a ram’s horn called a shofar is blown; the sound is said to awaken our perfect selves and all the judgment that the negative side tries to arouse becomes confused and is sent away. The sound of the shofar is the human heart crying out. All the pain of humanity is awakened through that sound, taking us a step closer to the revelation of the great Light. We need to keep this understanding…this awareness of how amazing every one of us is…throughout the year. We have to remind others and ourselves that our genuine essence is abundance and fulfillment, and our true work is to remove barriers and veils we have put in their way. At RH, we gain miraculous power to remove those veils. It doen’t matter if you practice a different faith or don’t really have one. It’s still good to connect to the mind set of starting fresh, changing our actions and sharing with others.

Wishing you all love, light and prosperity…Happy Rosh Hashanah (שמח ראש השנה)!

Money Matters

Today is the last day of the year and I am leaving all negativity behind regarding career and money. I’ve never been rich but always have been able to take care of myself. I’ve worked for and next to the wealthy and know first hand money does not buy happiness. It will buy food, clothes and just about everything in the physical world. I just checked my bank account and am faced with the sad truth of $146 dollars. It’s better then nothing right? Two weeks left on my unemployment benefits before I can apply for an extension…think I can get another 20 weeks? The law changes based on the State vs. National unemployment numbers. I’ll have to get back to you on that. Luckily, I have an IRA and am able to withdraw from my retirement fund. I am looking at it as an investment into myself…I’m 35yrs old and am giving myself 5 years to conquer the world. I don’t have many doubts but if there is another plan for me then I will embrace it. I live day to day and moment to moment and try to stay connected to The Light but I also am aware that on paper I am slipping further down the poverty line. I share this with you because we need to be aware of the blessings we do have…everyday I am seeing more and more homeless people sleeping on the street and realize I am not special, that there are no guarantees and it could be me. Tomorrow is Rosh Hashanah and I’m going to plant the seeds of prosperity in the New Year!

We Found Love

I’m so glad she is done with that red hair!!! What else is new with Rihanna? Well she has another album being released November 21st and just shot a video in Northern Ireland for the single “We Found Love” which has already climbed to #3 on Itunes…listen here: http://youtu.be/e560V-O0ifw Not sure how I feel about it…I think in the right time and place it will speak to me but not as strongly as “Only Girl In The World” and “S&M”….I LOVE those tracks. It seems like there hasn’t been much of a break between albums but I guess you have to get your money when you can these days. Nothing would be more over exposed than that red hair…so as long as Rihanna mixes it up…I’m good.
