I know this movie has been out for awhile but I finally got to see it the other day. I had a few hours to kill and needed to get out of the rain, so a movie was perfect. Contagion, had me glued to the screen…imagining what it would be like if a real life lethal airborne virus spread across the globe? Scary stuff! Contagion had the potential of being a great film with superb performances by all cast memebers including Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Laurence Fishburne. However, halfway through things get overly sentimental. Director Steven Soderbergh, serves it up typical Hollywood style….disaster movie with a dash of romance and an optimistic ending. It’s not that I’m a Debbie Downer but I think it would be far more interesting if the world was just wiped out…and the audience could see first hand the end of days. Kind of grim but a less formulaic approach. If you haven’t seen it…I say wait for cable, netflix or pay per view.
