Double Feature

The only reason, I wanted to see Conan the Barbarian, was for it’s star Jason Moma. Helloooo hottie!!! I first became aware of Moma on HBO’s Game of Thrones but his character was killed off and that always sucks. Anyway, playing another shirtless, long haired warrior was not too much of a stretch. All drooling aside, the film was pretty good. It’s starts off a bit bumpy with a long and confusing narrative by Morgan Freeman (Zzzzzzzzzz) but soon after we meet little Conan who is born to KILL. After his village and family is wipped out by an evil tribe, looking for a piece of a mask that will give it’s wearer ultimate power, Conan is the soul survivor and of course will seek revenge. 20yrs later, Conan is all grown up and has the pecs to prove it. He will stop at nothing and looks good in the process. Best line of the movie, “I live, I love, I slay and I’m content”! An unrecognizable, Rose McGowan stands out as an demonic villain with claws of steal (think Freddy Krueger). Overall, fun and action packed plus an ass shot of Moma (you can bounce a quarter off that thing) make Conan a must see.

Crazy, Stupid, Love….lives up to it’s title. It’s a bit crazy, a bit stupid and you fall in love with star Ryan Gosling. Cal & Emily (played by Steve Carell & Julianne Morre) are going through a divorce because Emily is having an affair with her co-worker played by Kevin Bacon. Cal is middle aged, out of style and heads to the local bar to drink his troubles away. It is there where he meets womanizer and the deliciously handsome Jacob played by Gosling. Jacob feels sorry for Cal and takes him under his wing, gives him a make over and turns him into a stud in order for him to get his Mojo back. There are some solid laughs but things get a bit goofy with a love triangle which ties together Cal, Emily, Jacob and supporting cast members Bacon, Marisa Tomei and Emma Stone. Gosling stands out and seals the deal as a movie star, expect to see a lot more of him as I’ve already seen two trailers for his next releases. Hate to say it but Crazy, Stupid, Love is a chick flick…if you like that sort of thing, go with you girlfriends and I can assure you’ll have a good time.
